Our History

A deep passion for film productions.

M3 Studios. How it all began.

Our Story

It all started in 2003 when Raul Rodriguez, founder of M3 Studios, foresaw potential to build a phenomenon in the heart of Miami. At that time the property, an old aircraft modification plant, sat there with no potential, but with a vision a film/television studio was brought to life. Since its inception hundreds of productions have been completed and M3 Studios has built a reputation as one of the most prominent up and coming Studios, Soundstage, Television, and Film facilities in the South Florida area. As an independent studio with no public funding, M3 Studios has stood above the rest, Raul Rodriguez back in 2003 stated in a Miami Today interview, ”Although we don’t own everything that we feature here, all of our partners are tenants within our structure that help us create this one-stop shop that will provide everything you need to produce a piece of music, a TV show or a film.”

2003, was an interesting year in M3 Studios history. The first major production “Al File De La Ley” was shot by Grupo Prisa (Plural USA) for Univision. This was a 13-week series that took all of one year to film and 95% of it was filmed at M3 Studios. At this time, M3 Studios only consisted of one soundstage with a full-blown standing courthouse, jail, and law firm set plus an executive suite building with support areas. The project was completed on January 4, 2004. The next major production forced M3 Studios to build out another stage for “100 Mexicanos Dicen” or “Qué Dice La Gente” a Spanish version of the familiar US hit show “Family Feud.” 225 episodes were shot on-location at M3 Studios with Fremantle Media production. After two years of production the show wrapped up in 2008. Varying in productions, M3 Studios hosted Gem TV’s “Desaparecidos” on Telemuno/Mundo2 at the same time. The show began appearing on LAT TV on October 23, 2007, focusing on alleged cases of forced disappearance of Hispanics in the United States.

In addition, a multitude of movies have been shot and filmed at M3 Studios including: Independent movie “Tumbe,” Queen Latifah starred film “Cook Out II,” Independent movie “Hunted by Night,” Italian Film “Christmas in Miami,” Independent movie by Flavor Unit “Percentage,” Prisa production “Cartel de los Sapos,” Telemundo’s “Maid in Manhattan,” and Plural production “A Day Without Mexicans.” Moreover, several TV shows have been shot such as: “ Moda Al Rescate,” “Quinceañera,” “Planeta Feroz,” “VME Cocina,” El Show de Jorge Gestoso,” “Nota Musical,” “Tu Bebe,” “En Pantalla,” “Pase VIP De L’Oreal,” “Alta Tensión De Red Bull,” “Mi Mascota Presentado por Pedigree,” and all of the VME proprietary content programming. In conjunction to the major productions filmed at M3 Studios, hundreds of music videos have also been shot on-site. Major industry artists from various genres include: Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, LiL wayne, Daddy Yankee, Winsin y Yandel, Chris Brown, Gloria Estefan, Christina Saralegui, and Ricky Martin, to name a few.

Since 2003, M3 Studios has proven they are a studio that can captivate film, television, commercials, music, and photography industries alike with their impeccable sound stages, services, amenities, and on-location capabilities to shoot right on the M3 Studios lot. Queen Latifah even has a taste of what M3 is all about with a stage for her company, Flavor Unit. Coming up with the studios tenth anniversary, M3 Studios plans to expand the facilities with more photography, music and commercial studios. With new breath-taking renovations, Raul has stuck to his plan as stated in 2003, “The plan is to have everything in-house, even a set of executive suites for our clients to stay a week, a month, a year, however long they need to complete their project.”

”I want to bring the film and TV industry back to Miami,” Mr. Rodriguez said. “I want to keep production here because it is an end destination where people can work and play within minutes of each other. There is a need for the industry here and plenty of room for growth.”
